A few things that behave differently here than in most of the country, and are worth knowing before you call anyone.
Your AC is a dehumidifier as much as a cooler
For much of the year the harder job is pulling moisture out of the air, not lowering the temperature. This is why an oversized unit makes a house feel worse: it cools the air to the thermostat setpoint quickly, shuts off before it has removed much moisture, and leaves rooms cold and clammy. Correct sizing beats extra tonnage every time.
Service before the season, not during it
The sensible window for maintenance is spring, before the system starts running nine months straight. A unit checked in March goes into the load with clean coils and a clear drain; one checked in July is already being asked for its hardest work. It is also when technicians are least backed up.
The condensate drain line is the usual culprit
Constant humidity means constant condensate, and that line grows algae until it clogs. A blocked drain is one of the most common reasons a system shuts itself off or leaves water around the air handler — and it is cheap to prevent and annoying to ignore.

Running continuously without reaching the setpoint, air that is cool but not cold, water pooling near the handler, a bill that climbs with no change in habits, or a system that switches on and off in short bursts.
